Doesn't a menu state a certain price in the US? So then you do not have to tip waitresses. What about taxes that are added later on. The were not there when you orderd. You obviously have never eaten in a NY restaurant where they put a mandatory 15% tip on the bill whether the service was excellent or absolutely sucked. If it sucked, do you go back? Me thinks not. You can always complain to someone, but most people will just stop going there. After a while, they either go out of business, or take a new waitress. And I have indeed never been to NY, but I know how it is, because in Europe, Taxes and Service is always included. As just an extra fact, prices are always prices including taxes, exept if it is pricing specially for businesses. And even then we have those $9.99 prices. The town where I live waitingstaff is not usedto getting tips. Service is better then average compared to other places in Belgium where they would fight over the tips. So, I know it is possible to give good service and include the total amount on the menu and the bill. (And I guess, when they don't say 'fuck off' and give you the finger, that is exelent service in NY.
