I have a Bronze propellor that I want to plate with something to repell marine growth (barnacles and oysters).  Painting it with bottom paint lasts until the first time I use the engine and it is oblated off.  Pretty much worthless. I know that copper does this fairly well, but bronze is mostly copper so I dont understand why the bronze is not a protectorant.  BUT, be that as it may, perhaps a copper plating on the bronze prop will do the trick.  BUT...this prop is used in salt water and I dont want to set up galvanic currents that will eat away my prop.  I am concerned that if I got a chip in the copper plating then the bronze and copper in the salt water might create a galvanic cell that would eat away one or the other of them.  I have also heard that Tin plating will work but I find that hard to believe since Tin is non toxic (at least to humans) and that is why it is used in food containers to plate iron/steel. Any one know if copper or tin plating will help reduce barnacle and oyster growth?  Also, anyone have any experience with the problems of galvanic corrosion in a plated propeller?

As you suspected, any different _meta_l is going to create an electrolysis problem.  Either the prop will be pitted under holes in the plating and undermine the plating so it starts to peel off or the plating itself will act like a miniature zinc and be gone in a few days.
